First Annual Fundraising Effectiveness Survey

The 2004-2005 FEP Survey will remain open indefinitely in order to have the 2004-2005 base-line data for the fEP Fundraising Performance Database as comprehensive as possible. The 2005-2006 FEP Survey was initiated in August 2007.

Measuring Growth in Giving from 2004 to 2005 by Gain/Loss Category*

*Growth in giving = the net of gains minus losses. Fundraising performance data developed through this survey will help your organization raise more money by maximizing gains and minimizing losses.

To assess interest in development of fundraising performance indicators, the Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP) emailed its members and asked if they would participate in an annual web-based Fundraising Effectiveness Survey. With more than 1,500 responses indicating overwhelming support, AFP is now implementing the first Annual Fundraising Effectiveness Survey in collaboration with the Center on Nonprofits and Philanthropy at The Urban Institute, the Center on Philanthropy at Indiana University, the National Committee on Planned Giving, the Council for Advancement and Support of Education, and Council for Resource Development and other nonprofit sector associations.

Please respond to the 2006 Fundraising Effectiveness Survey and get back decision-useful comparative fundraising performance data that will support growth-oriented strategic planning and budgeting for your fundraising programs - enabling you to raise more money for your organization. Access to the survey performance data will be free to survey respondents.

All of the information you provide will be kept strictly confidential and will be reported in aggregate form only.

Because you cannot save a partially completed survey and return to it at a later time for completion, you need to organize the data for all 55 fields off-line before you begin.

Important: Financial data entries (i.e., fields 16-55) must be in local currency based on country code provided in field 7b.

To make it easier to respond, refer your donor software provider* to this URL and ask them if they can provide you with guidance on how to use their software to provide the giving data required for fields 17-55. If they can't help you, you will find detailed instructions for responding on your own by going to

http://www.afpnet.org/ka/ka-3.cfm?content_item_id=23821&folder_id=887.

In addition, you and/or your software provider may email FEP@afpnet.org with questions.
